Schedule9:00 - 9:30 a.m. 9:30 - 9:35 a.m. 9:35 - 10:45 a.m. In this presentation Jean Godby from OCLC will offer a perspective on library linked data by answering a few questions. Why is linked data a good fit for the library community? How difficult are the problems that the library community hopes linked data will solve, compared to those faced by other business sectors that are considering its adoption? How has linked data already shown impact, either by offering realistic solutions to longstanding problems, or by influencing the practice of library resource description? What are some of the biggest challenges? And what is the long-term impact of the linked data experiment? I will answer these questions by describing how linked data is being used by OCLC, libraries, and other organizations that support the work of the library community.
