Michigan Library Advocacy Day 2021

Register for Michigan Library Advocacy Day!

The first step to participating in Michigan Library Advocacy Day on Tuesday, April 20, is to register! Michigan Library Advocacy Day is free to attend and you don't need to be an MLA member - but you will need to register to attend the inspirational morning keynote with special guest U.S. Representative Andy Levin and so we can schedule a meeting for you with your local legislator.

We will be scheduling a virtual meet and greet for you to connect with your local legislators on Zoom. Make sure to review the educational videos (each video is approximately 3 minutes long) created to educate you on the issues that are most important to libraries, plus review the videos and resources that will prepare you to be a good library advocate. Then get ready to Take Action by checking out the short video, More Than Books, and reviewing the talking points. Make sure you visit the Take Action page on April 20 to further amplify our messaging by emailing, calling or tweeting your legislators!

Virtual advocacy days are really no different than in-person advocacy days and preparation is the key to a successful legislative visit. Review the Advocacy Day Overview and Logistics(pdf) to view complete details including an overview of the day and answers to FAQs!
