Using proven concepts, intuition, and supportive practices, you’ll be on your way to being a better manager. 12:00 - 1:00 p.m. 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. Human resources responsibilities are a critical part of the job duties within any leadership position in the library but most library leaders are provided insufficient training to perform these duties with confidence. This information-packed session will provide an overview of HR best practices that will help keep your organization legally compliant and your workforce strong. Topics covered will include hiring/termination, employee orientation and training, performance evaluation and regulatory compliance. 2:00 - 2:15 p.m. 2:15 - 3:15 p.m. The hallmark of a cohesive team is the ability to communicate and share the workload to maximize the skills and talents of the individual members. The ideal team is able to come together to accomplish shared goals despite differences in work methods, communication styles and skill level. Simply grouping employees together and hoping for success is counterproductive; successful teams need guidance on how to work together, taking into consideration the different personalities and work styles of each member. This session will identify five behaviors inherent to cohesive teams, ways to build trust within your team and why and how to promote conflicting conversations on issues and ideas. Attendees will gain a better understanding of effective team leadership for today and tomorrow. 3:15 p.m. Registration RatesEarly Bird Rates expire April 15, 2016
