State of Michigan Budget Updates

All three State of Michigan FY2023 draft budgets have been published – from the Governor, the Senate, and from the House.

These are certainly not the final budgets that will be adopted but it is good to note that while the Governor’s and the House budget remain flat for State Aid to Libraries, the Senate version has proposed an increase of $500,000. As we get closer to summer (or as we have seen in recent years – closer to the end of September), we will begin to see movement to align all of the numbers and finalize a new FY2023 budget. MLA continues to advocate for additional funding for libraries and we will keep you informed as the process unfolds.
