Learn how to create human resources policies that ensure fair and safe treatment of library staff and library users.

Join Genesee District Library Human Resources Manager Jerilyn Klich and South Haven Memorial Library Director Jim France for a discussion on how their libraries handled these challenges and what policies have been implemented related to remote work, keeping employees safe, and best practices in 2021 and beyond.

Attorney Jacqui Schulte will join to address the legal obligations you must consider as you revisit your library’s human resource policies.

Jerilyn Klich, Genesee District Library

Jerilyn Klich has worked at the Genesee District Library since 2013. In addition, she teaches Human Resource Management classes at Saginaw Valley State University. She is very passionate about training and ensuring compliance within an organization. Jerilyn has a Master’s in Human Resources Administration from Central Michigan University.

 
Jim France, South Haven Memorial Library

Jim France is the Director of the South Haven Memorial Library. He holds degrees in Business and Library and Information Science and has completed coursework towards a Doctorate in Education. His hobbies include gardening, reading, and writing and producing music.


Jacqui Schulte, Esq., Jacqulyn G. Schulte, PLC

Jacqulyn Schulte focuses her practice on both preventing litigation as well as defending it. Ms. Schulte specializes in training employers how to utilize employment and labor laws to accomplish business goals and decrease legal exposure. She develops and facilitates training programs which she has taught to thousands of executives, managers and staff all over the country. Being a former human resources professional and manager herself, Ms. Schulte also recognizes the need for employers to have instant access to legal advice, especially when faced with tough employee relations situations. Her availability and expertise to counsel clients through even the most complex employee relations issues and thus decrease the risk of litigation is an asset valued by her clients. Ms. Schulte is also a successful defense litigator, having won most cases by summary motion, and others by favorable jury verdict. She has also negotiated collective bargaining agreements and has successfully defended clients in numerous arbitrations and administrative proceedings.
