Please join the Michigan Collaborating Partners for a three-part webinar series dedicated to creating inclusive libraries and supporting LGBTQIA+ patrons & staff. Registration is only $25 for all three sessions!

Session 1:  Resiliency Rising & Shining Out with Graci Harkema

Tuesday, July 7
12:00 – 1:30pm
July 7’s session will feature a keynote on inclusive leadership, allyship and living as your true self, by Graci Harkema, an experienced diversity and inclusion consultant with Graci LLC. Ms. Harkema specializes in equity and inclusive leadership training within the Fortune 500, small businesses and non-profit organizations. She is currently writing a book on her story, including her experience as a person of color and as a member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Michigan.

Session 2:  Supporting LGBTQIA+ Patrons & Staff in Libraries with Kelly Boston

Tuesday, July 14
12:00 – 1:30pm
July 14’s session will feature a presentation by Kelly Boston on basic information and terminology in regard to gender identity and sexual orientation, how intersectionality with race, disability and more shape the identities of library patrons, and some best practices to make libraries more inclusive spaces. Ms. Boston is certified school media library specialist Michigan and a member of the LGBTQIA+ community.

Session 3: Building (More) Inclusive Libraries with Dr. Jessica Garcia

12:00 – 1:30pm
July 21’s session will feature a presentation by Dr. Jessica Garcia building more inclusive libraries, including the concept of implicit bias and how it manifests, and actionable steps to reduce bias in our encounters. Dr. Garcia is the founder and CEO of Hummingbird Solutions, LLC, a diversity and inclusion firm. She has consulted with and trained thousands of participants from the public and private sectors on topics such as best business practices, implicit bias, and microaggressions. She also serves as the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Manager for the College of Literature, Science and the Arts at the University of Michigan-Ann Arbor.
