Wolf Hollow Named 2017 MLA YouPer Award Winner

2017 YouPer Award winner Wolf Hollow By Lauren WolkThe Michigan Library Association (MLA) is pleased to announce Wolf Hollow by Lauren Wolk, published 2016 by Dutton books for Young Readers, is the winner of the 2017 MLA YouPer (Young Person) Award.

In Wolf Hollow Annabelle’s life is forever changed when a cruel girl moves to her peaceful farm community and threatens Annabelle’s family and friends.

Wolf Hollow stands out for its beautiful prose and courageous narrator Annabelle whose voice will remain with you after you’ve finished.” Said 2017 YouPer Work Group Chair Whitney Hagen. “Although historical fiction this story contains themes of bullying, prejudice and PTSD that were as evident in the 1940’s as they are today.”

Lauren Wolk is an award-winning poet and author of the bestselling Newbery Honor–winning Wolf Hollow, described by the New York Times Book Review as "full of grace and stark, brutal beauty." She was born in Baltimore and has since lived in California, Rhode Island, Minnesota, Canada, and Ohio. She now lives with her family on Cape Cod.

Wolf Hollow is a 2017 Newbery Honor Book and an ALA Notable Children's Book has been recognized as best book of the year by many organizations including being named an NPR Best Book of the Year, Booklist Best Book of the Year and a School Library Journal Best Book of the Year.
