MLA Seeks 2019-2020 Board Member Nominations

The MLA Board of Directors is seeking candidates for the 2019-2020 Board Election. In April members will vote for a MLA President-elect and three member-at-large board positions. The at-large positions will serve for a three-year term beginning July 2019 and ending June 2022.

The nomination process begins with an open call for nominations for these positions. All MLA members are invited to nominate a colleague or self-nominate. The Nominating and Leadership Development Committee will review all nominations and may also seek additional individuals to meet identified needs. All nominees must be members of MLA at the time that the slate is presented to the Board of Directors for approval.

It is anticipated that 2019-2020 will be another exciting time for Michigan's libraries and MLA. The Board of Directors will play an integral role by stepping up to challenges and guiding the association's strategic course for the future.

The Nominating and Leadership Development Committee is seeking candidates who have strategic skill sets to govern a professional, nonprofit association. For the 2019 election, skills especially needed include: big picture focus/global outlook; change agents; commitment to actively participate and serve for three years; ability to present, persuade and influence; ability to implement a strategic plan; development/fundraising.

The submission deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 2, 2018. To submit a nomination, complete the nomination form online. For any questions please contact Romy Fitschen, Director of Finance and Administration at [email protected].

Thank you in advance for taking an active role in your association's nomination process and for encouraging individuals to apply.
