MLA Connect Coffee Hour: Reopening Academic Libraries

Join our new MLA President, Dr. Jennifer Dean, Dean of Libraries and Instructional Technology at the University of Detroit Mercy, for the MLA Connect Coffee Hour: Reopening Academic Libraries. Jennifer will help facilitate conversation about how academic libraries throughout the state are planning their reopening and preparing for students this fall. Attendees are encouraged to share how their libraries are preparing and brainstorm ideas for common concerns.

Updates to MLA Strategic Plan

Since 2019, the MLA Board of Directors has spent time and energy developing a strategic direction for MLA. Each year MLA is dedicated to revisiting it, talking through our challenges and successes to remain relevant as we address the needs of the field.

In July 2021, July 2022, and August 2023, MLA gathered a small group of key stakeholders who reviewed the planning document and made updates that addressed achievements and changes for 2021-2023, 2022-2024, and 2023-2025.

Congratulations to Beaver Island District Library! Voters in Peaine and St. James Townships approved a .9776 mill renewal and .0224 mill in new additional millage (to restore the millage rate previously authorized) for three years.
