Academic Libraries Interest Group Update

Did you know MLA hosts an Academic Libraries Interest Group? This Interest Group was formed to have a regular forum to discuss matters that are relevant and useful to academic library professionals, to promote libraries on college and university campuses, and to offer professional development opportunities and support.

The Academic Libraries Interest Group meets virtually on a quarterly basis. Meetings are scheduled for May 1, August 7, and November 6. The Academic Libraries Interest Group is a chapter of the Association of College and Research Libraries (ACRL). As such, a webinar on Curricular Mapping took place last year and we are exploring additional opportunities for workshops and webinars.

We are in need of a Chair-elect to serve from July 1, 2019 - June 30, 2020. We are also seeking volunteers to initiate email conversations and write monthly articles for the MLA newsletter on matters of interest to the group. If you are an academic library professional or support staff and looking for a way to get involved and network with your community, I invite you to join and get involved with the MLA Academic Libraries Interest Group. To join the group, navigate to your member profile online by visiting: www.milibraries.org

From the member home page, select “Go to Profile” from the navigation menu, then navigate to “My Features” and select “E-lists” from the dropdown menu. You will see all the groups you are eligible to join. Join the Academic Libraries Interest Group by toggling “Subscribed” to the on position. Make sure to post a message to the group introducing yourself! All members are eligible to join the group.
