President's Update - October 12, 2017

Hello fellow Michigan Library Association members! I am excited to be headed to the Annual Conference this month! I am waiting to see how each of us will get involved with MLA and share in meeting with others who have things in common.

This year at Annual Conference will be our chance to really move forward with member Interest Groups. The MLA Board is excited that Interest Groups will allow members to come together around shared passions, in groups that you will define. Groups will plan their own activities and projects.

At Annual Conference member Interest Groups will have a time to meet and individuals will have a chance to seek out others with like interests to form new groups. The Idea Exchange at Annual Conference will also provide a chance for Interest Groups to showcase who they are and what they are working on. We are just getting going and I would love for each MLA member to find a group to get involved with!

What group do you want to be a part of? What projects or other activities do you want to see accomplished by an Interest Group? They will only go anywhere if you and your colleagues get involved. If you don't see the group you want, we can form it. If you don't want to form a group on your own, let me know and I will try to get a group together to meet your needs.
