Congressman Sander Levin Named 2018 MLA Heart of a Champion

MLA is pleased to announce Congressman Sander Levin is the winner of the MLA 2018 Heart of a Champion Award. The award, established in 2012, recognizes a library supporter who has shown an exceptional commitment to libraries and the library profession through continued advocacy, supporting or providing funding for the local library, or continued support of Michigan Library Association activities.

“He never fails to put in a good word on the value of the public library to the community in his comments,” said Larry Neal, Library Director, Clinton-Macomb Public Library. “Representative Levin’s actions and advocacy in Congress reflect his words back in his district about supporting libraries. Not only has he consistently voted for funding for the Library Services and Technology Act (LSTA) and Innovative Approaches to Literacy (IAL) programs, he regularly signs on to “dear appropriator” letters urging his colleagues to support these programs as well.”

Congressman Levin will receive his award at a special event at a later date. We hope you will join us.
