You won’t want to “escape the conference” until you “break in” at the opening reception.  Be the first to solve the puzzles and open the locked box in the middle of the exhibit hall- win prizes, ribbons and bragging rights!  Mingle with friends, old and new.  Meet the exhibitors. Enjoy the live music by Tony Viviano, Jazz pianist.  Food and a cash bar will be available during the event.

MLA Game and Craft Night

This is a free event.  No pre-registration required.
The evening is still young; MLA Game night is back for the second year with the addition of some fiber, but not the kind you eat.  Join the gamers and crafters in the Radisson for some gaming, stitching ‘n bitching, and partaking of food and beverage.  You bring the fiber and needles, we’ll have the games. No gaming experience necessary.  Food and beverage will be available for purchase.  This is a pay your own way event.

This casual, inclusive reception turned continental breakfast is designed to bring emerging professionals, local MLIS program alumni, exhibitors and established library professionals from all backgrounds together to network professionally, learn some innovative new projects, network and grow professionally.  Whether your goal is to meet new connections, explore collaboration opportunities, or simply put faces with names, this event will help you grow your network.  Students are welcome and encouraged to attend.  Continental breakfast items included.

Library SOUP

Library SOUP was created to help:
    Empower the library community to pursue bold projects
    Connect the needs of the community through innovative ideas
    Promote a creative/entrepreneurial spirit in the library community
Library SOUP is a fundraising event that will help secure money for innovative projects libraries would otherwise not be able to pursue.  Think of it as a go-fund-me project where your peers will vote for the winning project idea.  Attendees will pay only $10.00 to attend this event.  Half the admission fee will go to support the MLA Scholarship fund and the remaining half will go to the winning project of Library SOUP.  Top 5 Library SOUP projects will be announced in July 2017!

Join the staff from East Lansing Public Library and C2AE as they entertain you for the evening.  Showcasing their newly renovated library, the evening will be filled with food, fun and let's not forget drinks!  Karaoke, painting with a twist and local musical artists are lined up!  More information coming soon!
A free shuttle will be available leaving every 30 minutes from the hotel.  Shuttle services to begin at 5:45 p.m.
