Inspired by the Library Journal, March 9, 2016 article, Top Skills for Tomorrow’s Librarians, the Hybrid Librarian Workshop is offering an experience that will blend collaboration, communication, creativity, critical thinking, and flexibility. Engage with your colleagues while participating in strategic thinking exercises and immersing yourself in Design Think situations. Be inspired to flex your creative leadership skills with experienced leadership coaches. At the end of the day you will leave ready to explore your inner hybrid librarian.

Recalibrated Leadership:  A Library Leaders Forum to Reengage and Recommit to our Leadership Roles
Brian L. Mortimore, SPHR, Director of HR/OD for Kent District Library, will facilitate learning, discussion, and activities around a variety of leadership topics.  Strategic Thinking is a process that is often neglected and will take center stage at this workshop.  Attendees will learn techniques for including strategic thinking into their weekly activities while practicing techniques for realistic scenarios facing their libraries.  Brian will incorporate discussions on research around change management specially sharing excerpts from researchers John Kotter, Gervase Bushe, and others, to inspire library leaders with practical information that they can use to make informed decisions and to truly exercise their leadership skills.

Design Thinking for Libraries
Learn about the design think process as it applies to libraries and how it could change your library.  In addition to an introduction, Michelle Boisvenue-Fox, Director of Innovation & User Experience at Kent District Library, will guide participants through a few design think activities to give participants a flavor of the process. So expect hands on work as well as stories throughout of how KDL uses design think in solving problems and developing new ideas and services.

Cancellation Policy:  Cancellations must be received in writing by email no later than ten (10) business days prior to the program in order to qualify for a refund.  A $25.00 processing fee will be applied to all cancelled registrations.  Within ten (10) business days of the event, no refund will be issued.  No-shows will be invoiced.
