Librarians, both individually and collectively, have a long history of engagement with human rights issues as they pertain to libraries and the communities they serve: against censorship and discrimination; in support of the rights of immigrants, cultural minorities, the destitute, people with disabilities, children and young adults, the LGBTQ community, the elderly, those who are illiterate, and the imprisoned.
